New Safeguarding Policy for Meetings

ACA UK’s Safeguarding Committee has been developing tools to support meetings over the last 2 years, and in September 2024’s Intergroup meeting they proposed that our fellowship would officially recommend all groups to adopt four of these in their meetings.

This proposal was voted in with a substantial majority, and you’ll now see this request in our New Meeting form, and the Meeting Update form when updating a contact email. Please have a look at the documents and bring a Group Conscience to your meeting about how you’ll be using them. Meetings are under a duty of care to safeguard the wellbeing of their members.

The new fellowship policy is to recommend that meetings:

  1. Be aware of the ACA UK Safeguarding Policy
  2. Regularly read or display the ACA UK Safety Statement in meetings
  3. Make “Newcomers Leaflet: Staying Safe in ACA” available in your meeting – either printed or share the link
  4. Display the ACA UK Tent Card in meetings – either printed or displayed as a screenshare

The Safeguarding Committee is available to offer confidential support to you and your meetings with any matters relating to safeguarding in ACA UK. You can reach them at safeguard@adultchildrenofalcoholics.co.uk.
